As the need for skilled professionals grows in Oklahoma, a local trade school is advancing its curriculum to meet that need.
At Francis Tuttle Technology Center, they’re training future diesel technicians as the need grows here in Oklahoma and the industry changes.
“If they are getting ahead of the new technology with this when they do come into the workforce, they’re going to be lightyears ahead,” said Brad Nowlin, the service manager for Holt Truck Centers in Oklahoma City.
The world of diesel technology has gone electric, putting a new spin on what students going into the trade need to know.
Holt Truck Centers recently donated two 2018 trucks to the Francis Tuttle Foundation, two 50,000-pound gifts to train future employees.
“Letting them know what we need in the industry so they can better teach them so when they do graduate, they’re prepared,” Nowlin said.
